Set up before Google Classroom
Before there was Google Classroom teachers and students had to front load the sharing of documents they were going to need to do when first setting up a Google Drive account to work in the classroom. With Google Classroom this is no longer necessary since Classroom automates this. Some teachers may not want to use classroom because they already have a LMS. Other districts may not be supplying Classroom as an alternative because they have time and resources invested in an LMS. Please understand that Google Classroom can run along side a Learning Management System. In fact, while you might be running both an LMS and Google Classroom, it is still much easier to do this then managing Google Drive along side an LMS. regardless some teachers may wish to still do so. In that case this video explains how to set up a Google Drive for classroom use. Some of teh terms may be older, but it still works. Take a look and then decide!
